Ushers & Greeters Ministry — Krishna Kumar, Leader

Mission:

To empower those attending to feel at ease and at home. To help create a sense of balance, welcome, comfort and order in the Sunday Celebration through individual demeanor, mannerisms, and words.

• Recruits, trains, and schedules ushers and greeters for Sunday Celebration services each week, substituting — when available — for unexpected absences. Empowers attendees to fully concentrate on the message and their spiritual experience by eliminating as many annoying incidents as possible from the physical setting. Works with remainder of the Sunday Service Ministry to create an atmosphere of friendliness and love in the church each Sunday.
   
• Develops, implements, and trains Ushers along the following, though not all inclusive, lines:
  • "Setting the consciousness" of love and warmth in the sanctuary by arriving 30 minutes prior to Sunday Celebration.
  • Sees that the temperature of the room is comfortable and the lay-out of the chairs is orderly and neat.
  • Greets each person who arrives with a warm handshake and gives out weekly bulletins and other information as necessary.
  • Directs late arrivals to seats.
  • Collects offering, noting congregation count (including minister(s), musicians, etc.), weather, and date on slip provided.
  • Gives "First Timers" welcome packets and distributes packets during church service. (Assembles welcome packets if necessary.)
  • Helps with seating attendees, especially those challenged with physical problems or with emergencies.
  • Remains following celebration service to straighten chairs, collect any papers or trash in the sanctuary, collect name tags, give farewell greeting to those who leave immediately following the service.
     
• Develops, implements, and trains Greeters along the following, though not all inclusive, lines:
  • Greets each arrival with a warm smile, handshake, hug (if appropriate) and word.
  • Encourages people to stay for coffee and goodies.
  • Works with Usher to take offering and give out welcome packets to "First Timers."
  • Helps with seating attendees, especially those challenged with physical problems or with emergencies.
